6 to 12 Month Old Gift Guide

I love a good gift guide - whether you’re shopping for your own baby, a friend’s baby, or a grandchild, I hope you find this list helpful! Here’s my list of Christmas gifts (or just-for-fun, baby shower, or birthday gifts) for the 6 to 12-month-old babies (and their parents). We all know these little ones won’t remember what they were gifted at this age, so I have done my best to compile items that are practical in the home, lasting for future children, and/or are helpful for your baby’s developing mind.

Toys + Books

Books! Books make for the sweetest gifts because they’ll last for years! While babies can enjoy looking at the pictures, they’ll be able to learn from the stories into toddlerhood!! Here on my Amazon Storefront, I’ve put together a list of some books we are currently loving or that are on our wishlist!

Lovevery Play Kits! I cannot encourage these kits enough - we’ve been getting these since Sutton was born (thanks to his generous Honey) and the toys inside are 95% of what Sutton plays with. It’s great to know that he’s interacting with toys that are age appropriate and helping to develop his mind, coordination, and a whole lot of other important skills! An added bonus is not having to buy any other toys - aside from books and some teethers, most all his toys are Lovevery!

Soft Ball Pit! This ball pit (and balls) were something we got for Sutton when he turned one and it has been amazing to keep him entertained, especially on days when I am working from home! This one off of Amazon was the best deal I could find and we love that the cover is machine washable…. and that it’s neutral/blends into the decor of our home!

Walker Wagon! This is another purchase I would happily make again. This has been the perfect walker for Sutton and is something he will be able to enjoy for years to come! It was great for him as he was first learning to walk because it has stoppers on the wheels that help it to not fly out from underneath him.

Stacking Cups! This is my go-to gift for other babies - Sutton loves playing with these in the bath, but they’re also super easy to throw in the diaper bag as a toy on the go.

Home + Travel

Gathre Maxi Mat! Not sure if this would be considered more of a gift for baby or mom - but we have absolutely loved having this maxi gathre mat to use outside in the yard on nice days. It’s big enough for your baby to crawl around on, is easily wipeable, and can be used literally anywhere. It also folds up super small making it easy to hide away when not being used!

Gathre Padded Mini Mat! This is the mat we keep under Sutton’s ball pit and it’s been something we’ve consistently used since he was born! Like all Gathre products, this is super easy to wipe down if it gets dirty and looks beautiful left out in your home!

Busy Baby Activity Chair! We do not personally have this chair, but some of my good friends do and it’s definitely something we will invest in for our next baby. Sutton always gravitates towards this when we’re at my friend Emily’s house and it keeps him entertained for quite some time! It’s super soft and is best for babies 6-9 months old, or once they are sitting well!

Baby Jogger City Turn! I cannot recommend this convertible car seat enough. I looked long and hard for a rotating car seat that would accommodate rear-facing up to 50lbs and this was the only one that checked all the boxes for us! We have it in the color paloma greige and I love the simple look of it. Sutton never could fall asleep in his infant car seat without a meltdown, but I kid you not, he dosed off in the car the first time trying it out. I love that he will be able to use this both rear and forward-facing for years to come!

Mealtime

Milk to Meals Recipe Book! I have followed Luka on her account Boob to Food ever since we began solids with Sutton and have learned so much just through her Instagram, but her Recipe Book has even more helpful information not only for baby-friendly meals but supplements, breastfeeding, allergies, etc. They’re only shipped from Australia and so I’d recommend getting one order of books with friends and splitting the shipping costs!

Silicone Bento Box! Sutton LOVES snacking on the go - it’s a great way to continue introducing him to new foods while keeping him distracted at a restaurant, friend’s house, or the grocery store! I love bento boxes to keep food fresh and separated while we’re out and about and this is a great option if you’re looking for a silicone one!

Stainless Steel Bento Box! Another great bento box option - this one is easy to seal up and throw in the diaper bag on the go! This is also a great way to pack a snack for both you and the baby while keeping them separated!

Silicone and Glass Straw Cups! Sutton is a big smoothie guy, and since he never did accept a bottle, he learned to drink from a straw at around 5 months old. We used the Honey Bear Cups to teach him, and once he mastered those in a day or two, he was able to use just about any type of straw! These cups are great for smoothies, bone broth, milk, water - just about anything you’d be giving to baby in liquid form! My friend Morgan recommended them to me and we’ve been trying to switch from plastic to glass drink ware, so these are a great option!

Clothes

Oat and Co. Ribbed Playsuit! I love anything from Oat and Co. and I love one-piece outfits - this playsuit is the best. Since you can get away with it being a little oversized, it lasts a lot longer than some more fitted onesies! Oat Children is based out of Bend, Oregon and they strive to create lasting children’s clothes that can be worn day after day.

Gunamuna Daywear! I’m a big Gunamuna fan and in terms of softness and quality, their baby clothes are at the top of my list. Another easy-to-throw-on onesie, Gunamuna recently came out with their daywear, which is basically a sweatshirt onesie, and I’m hoping they’ll make it available in all of their cute prints!

Gunamuna Romper! Sutton sleeps and plays in this daily - it’s always the first thing I grab out of his closet because of how soft it is. I love the zipper placement in all of the gunamuna clothing items and appreciate how stretchy the fabric is - he is 13 months and can still squeeze in the 6-9 month sleepers!

Engel Wool and Fleece Suit! I finally jumped on ordering one of these snowsuits after many recommendations and I don’t regret it one bit. These are extremely oversized, so I think it will last us a couple of winters - maybe even a few. The quality is incredible, too.
